PC §732 - PARKING IN AN UNAUTHORIZED AREA

INFRACTION

Section 1: Definitions

1. Unauthorized Parking: Parking a vehicle in a location where parking is restricted or prohibited by signs, markings, or laws, without proper authorization or permit.

2. Vehicle: Any mode of transportation that requires operation by a person, including but not limited to cars, motorcycles, trucks, bicycles, and scooters.

3. Person: Any individual, partnership, corporation, association, or other entity.

4. Permit: Official authorization issued by a relevant authority allowing a vehicle to park in a specific area.

Section 2: Offenses

1. Parking in Restricted Zones:

   • It shall be unlawful for any person to park a vehicle in a zone where parking is restricted by signs, markings, or regulations, without proper authorization or permit.

2. Parking in No-Parking Zones:

   • It shall be unlawful for any person to park a vehicle in areas designated as no-parking zones by signs, markings, or regulations.

3. Parking in Handicapped Spaces:

   • It shall be unlawful for any person to park a vehicle in spaces designated for handicapped parking without a valid handicapped permit or license plate.

4. Blocking Access:

   • It shall be unlawful for any person to park a vehicle in a manner that obstructs access to driveways, fire hydrants, crosswalks, or other critical access points.

Section 3: Additional Provisions

1. Towing and Impoundment:

   • Vehicles found to be parked in unauthorized areas may be towed and impounded at the owner’s expense. The owner shall be responsible for all towing and storage fees.

Section 4: Exceptions

1. Emergency Situations:

   • This code shall not apply to persons who park in unauthorized areas due to an emergency situation where immediate action is required to ensure safety.

2. Official Vehicles:

   • This code shall not apply to law enforcement, emergency, or government vehicles performing official duties.

3. Special Events:

   • This code shall not apply to vehicles parked in unauthorized areas with temporary permission granted by relevant authorities for special events.
